Glossary

Every citeme.eu term in one line, from prompt and topic to owned and earned presence.

Tracking

  • Prompt — a question citeme.eu asks AI chatbots on your behalf, such as "Alternatives to BambooHR". How to get started is in Getting started with citeme.eu. More
  • Search query — a term citeme.eu runs against search engines, the search-side counterpart to a prompt. Each has a market and a language, and can be linked to the prompts it supports. More
  • Topic — a group of prompts and search queries about one theme, so results can be read per theme instead of per question.
  • Brand-profile topic — a topic whose prompts ask about you by name ("What do you know about Acme?", if Acme is your brand). Its answers feed the Brand Profile and are kept out of visibility numbers, because a question naming you would always "mention" you.
  • Market (location) — the country a prompt or search query is run from: as if you were physically there with your device, or as if you set your region in Google. This is the region, not the language.
  • Language — the language a prompt or search query is tracked in, chosen separately from the market. Google usually derives the language from the region, and you can override it in settings; we do the same. ChatGPT has no such override: it answers in the language the prompt is written in, and Perplexity and Gemini do the same. Google AI Mode, and for search queries also Google and Bing, receive the language you set. Left unchanged, it is the market's main language — German for Switzerland, French for Belgium, English for Canada — so a French speaker in Switzerland keeps the market on Switzerland and sets the language to French. More
  • Persona — lets you simulate a specific type of customer asking your prompts, so you can see how AI answers differ by audience. For each persona you can define an age group (e.g. 25–34), occupation and company size (e.g. a marketing manager at a 50-person company), gender, and a free-text description with further details (interests, pain points, stage of the buying decision, and so on). citeme.eu then re-runs your prompts from that persona's perspective — for example, whether AI recommends you differently to a solo freelancer than to a corporate buyer, or to a younger demographic than to an older one.
  • Run — one prompt answered by one AI assistant for one persona, or one search query on one engine on one day. Plans include a monthly number of prompt runs. More
  • Active / inactive — only active prompts and search queries run and count toward headline numbers. Disabling keeps the history; deleting removes it.

AI answers

  • AI chatbot — ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini or Perplexity. In the app you pick them in the Model filter.
  • AI Assistant — citeme.eu's own feature for reviewing content, optimizing page titles for AI search, writing text and suggesting prompts. It is not one of the AI chatbots above. More
  • Site optimization — rewrites of your page titles, headings and descriptions so the searches AI assistants run can find your pages. More
  • AI visibility — the share of AI answers that name your brand at all. More
  • Share of voice — how much of each answer's attention you get when you are named: with two brands named, each gets 50%. More
  • Average position — where in the answer you are named; 1 means first. Lower is better. More

  • Sentiment by theme — how statements about your brand are grouped, for example Pricing, Trust or Support & service. This is not a prompt topic. More
  • Grounded / ungrounded answer — an answer that cites web sources, or one written from the model's memory without citing any. More
  • AI search query — a web search an assistant ran by itself while answering your prompt. More

  • First-appearance position — the rank of the first result that shows you, owned or earned. More
  • Winning URL — the page that most often takes the top organic result for a search query. More
