Site audit
The weekly technical check of whether AI systems can reach, read and cite your pages — and your competitors' pages.
The Site audit finds problems such as a site blocking AI crawlers through robots.txt or bot protection, missing structured data, slow responses or missing metadata — and tells you what to fix first. It was previously called GEO analysis. The technical audit is included in every plan, including the free one.
When it runs
- Every week, automatically — for your site and for every competitor you track, with the same checks, so the scores are comparable.
- Whenever you want — start an audit from the page. A full crawl usually takes a minute or two.
An audit covers up to 40 pages: pages you pin first, then other pages from your sitemap. You can exclude pages you don't want audited, or pin a URL that isn't in your sitemap. The page also shows how many pages we found on your site in total.
Results summary
The page opens with your score, its readiness level — Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor or Critical — and how you compare: with your competitors and with the average for sites in your country. How the score is built is explained on Site audit score.
How to read the audit results and what to fix first is shown step by step in Getting started with citeme.eu.
Search engine indexing
A live check of whether Google, Bing, Perplexity, Exa and Tavily list your pages. Perplexity, Exa and Tavily are search services that AI assistants use to look things up on the web. For each one it shows whether your site looks indexed, only your homepage is listed, or nothing is. AI assistants often start from public search indexes, so pages missing from them give assistants less to cite. The indexing check doesn't change your audit score.
Sorted by severity
A table of every audited page with its score and counts of critical issues, warnings and info items. Click a page to see every check that ran on it, with a severity filter:
- Critical only — the urgent blockers.
- Critical + warnings — the recommended to-do list.
- All — the complete audit.
Check categories
| Category | What it checks |
|---|---|
| Bot access | Whether OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft and Perplexity crawlers can reach the site — an assistant can't cite a page its crawler can't fetch |
| Meta tags | Title, description, canonical URL, language, hreflang, robots directives (meta tag and X-Robots-Tag header), sitemap health |
| Headings | A single H1, a clean heading hierarchy, no empty headings |
| Structured data | JSON-LD presence, validity, required fields and variety of schema types |
| Content quality | Enough text, a clear value proposition, statistics, freshness, internal and external links |
| E-E-A-T | Author information, About and contact pages, testimonials, trust indicators |
| AI signals | llms.txt, quotable snippets, FAQ sections, citations |
| Semantic HTML | Main element, semantic elements, lists and tables, ARIA labels, a fallback without JavaScript |
| Performance | Page size, server response time, render-blocking resources, number of scripts |
| Agent readiness (not scored yet) | Whether AI agents such as ChatGPT Atlas can use the site: a Markdown version for agents, AI usage preferences in robots.txt, and names on form fields, buttons and links. Shown for information; it doesn't change the score yet |
Hand it to your developer
Export for developer creates a step-by-step fix guide you can give to your developers — or paste straight into a coding agent such as Claude Code or Codex. You can also export a report for a product owner (summary and recommendations) or for a developer (check names, locations in the code, snippets and implementation advice), as Markdown or PDF, for selected pages and categories.
Competitors and cited pages
Competitor sites are audited every week with the same checks, so you can see whether their sites are easier for AI to read than yours — the Competitors page shows their latest scores. Sites that AI cites in your answers can be audited too.
To judge the content of a page rather than its technical setup, use the content review in the AI Assistant.
